The last time Chelsea faced Red Bull Salzburg, in mid-September, the battle between the clubs was taking place off the pitch as well as on it. By a quirk of fate, the match at Stamford Bridge – Graham Potter’s first as head coach – came when Chelsea were attempting to poach a key executive from their opponents.
