Young stewards pay highest price for violence that marred Euro 2020 final at Wembley
On Olympic Way, after England’s victory over Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-finals in July, one of the stewards responsible for controlling the crowd flow into Wembley Park station was left so distraught that their radio message made it into Baroness Casey’s review of the disastrous events surrounding the final. “I’m not doing this any more,” they said, “if you want to sack me, sack me.”
